The College of Engineering, Adoor (CEA) is a college in Adoor, Kerala, India, located 3 km from the town centre at Manakkala. It is affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology and is run under the aegis of the Institute of Human Resources Development, an institute of the government of Kerala. The college was inaugurated in 1995 by the then Chief Minister of Kerala A K Antony.
At the College of Engineering, Adoor, we have established a high standard on the quality of our course and the unrivaled flexibility of our study methods. With around 1000 active students, our B.Tech programme in three engineering disciplines is one of the best in the state. CEA provides an outstanding combination of oppertunities and experience to equip its graduates for successful careers in the 21st century. An experienced and dedicated faculty moulds new concepts and proven practice into powerful tools for outstanding analytical and professional skills. Known internationally for its academic excellence, the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) sets a very high standard, which requires that a student has to reach the prescribed level of professional skills before he can obtain his B.Tech degree. Here at CEA we believe that our programme offers an exciting, rigorous and thoroughly rewarding oppurtunity for those aspiring techno brains who will be an asset to the technical field, they will work for, in the future.
THE MANAGEMENT
Established in 1997, Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD) is unique of its kind aiming at human resource development in the scientific and technical fields. A salient feature which characterises the IHRD organisation is its functions and performance in an integrated system of professional education, training and performance.
THE UNIVERSITY
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a premier institute of higher learning much sought after within India and abroad. CUSAT is a young institution with only thirty years of history behind it. Yet it has registered steady growth and has earned recognition as one of the highly reputed and internationally acclaimed Indian Universities. While striving to live up to the expectations of the society, CUSAT has made quantum leaps in its academic pursuits and has spread its wings far and wide to encompass new and ever giving frontiers across the academic horizon. In its pursuit for international excellence, CUSAT has established academic links and exchange programmes with several reputed institutions across the globe. CUSAT with its various departments and multidisciplinary interaction centers is a true manifestation of the diversity of the nation with unity of purpose. Courses offered
THE ENTRANCE">The college offers B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) degrees in three streams. The number of students intake per year in the respective streams is given in brackets.
Since its inception, the college has succeeded in proving itself several times over on all fronts.[citation needed] The well-established facilities, high academic standards, achievements in technical contests and extracurricular performances have firmly established its credentials in the fore-front of technical education.[citation needed]

Admission procedure
The college follows a 50-50 method of admission from both merit and management streams. A significant amount of students in the management stream is filled by children of NRI Malayalees.
When the college started in 1995, it had a 90-10 breakup of merit and management streams. However, the merit students were also required to pay a refundable deposit (at the end of the course) of one lakh rupees which was utilized for infrastructure development in the college.
College Senate
The members of the College Senate (College Union) are elected by and from among the students of the college. The College Senate consists of elected representatives from each class and lady representatives from each year. The College Senate has an executive committee consisting of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Sports Club Secretary and Arts Club Secretary. The tenure of office of the College Senate is one academic year. The objective of the Senate is to train the students in duties, responsibilities and rights of citizenship, to promote opportunities for development of character, leadership and spirit of service among students, to organize debates, seminars, tours and to encourage sports, arts and other cultural, educational and social activities.
Department associations
PULSE
PULSE (Powerful & United Legion of Students of Electronics), the Electronics and Communication Engineering students' association, have organized various academic programs.These include a tech fest with the name "PEGASUS", an induction programme for freshers, introductory and expert seminars in recent technologies..
TRACE
TRACE (The Regal Association of Computer Engineers) is the association of Computer Science students. Each year TRACE conducts a fest meant for the technocrats of CEA. TRACE took the initiative to introduce CEA to LINUX. The CEA-LUG (Linux Users Group) was established solely for this purpose. The TRACE has visioned a Wi-Fi campus and an advance EDGE technology, with the computerization of library and the introduction of various services for students.
FORUM
FORUM (Fraternity of Royal United Mechanicals) This is an association of the Mechanical Engineering students of CEA. Royal Mex, as popularly known, has surged ahead in the field of academics, sports and cultural activities. In 2008 FORUM conducted PRAGNJA, an inter-college technical fest and exhibition, became a success with greater participation from various schools and colleges.

Technical and non-technical organizations
ISTE
International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a nonprofit professional organization with a worldwide membership of leaders and potential leaders in educational technology. The ISTE student chapter at CEA organizes seminars, industrial visits, competitions, workshops and discussions regularly aiming at the overall development of students.In the year 2002-2003 ISTE student chapter at CEA won the best student chapter award in Kerala.[citation needed]
IEEE
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE is an international non-profit, professional organization for the advancement of technology related to electricity. IEEE Student chapter at CEA functions as an agency for imparting knowledge to the students by conducting industrial visits, paper presentations, circuit designs, etc.
NSS
National Service Scheme (NSS) aims to integrate learning with social service. They conduct activities such as blood donation, nature camp, and campus beautification.
Placement cell
CAREER GUIDENCE & PLACEMENT UNIT
The Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) of College of Engineering, Adoor is a body of selected students, guided by the Placement Officer. Student members are specially selected to carry out the responsible working of the cell.
ACTIVITIES
The activities of the Career Guidance and Placement Unit can be divided into two. They are:

Every year, a total of 240 students (60 from Computer Science & Engineering;
120 from Electronics & Communication Engineering; and 60 from Mechanical Engineering) are available for placements.
The CGPU has also been able to extend and offer its services to other professional colleges. Colleges who wish to participate in our placement processes are requested to send a request to cgpu@cea.ac.in
The CGPU aims at finding the appropriate placement for each candidate. It prepares students for recruitment by organizing lectures, seminars and presentations; and providing training through aptitude tests, group discussions and mock interviews. It is also a source of information on job opportunities and prospects of higher education.
The CGPU keeps in touch with its alumni, especially those who were not placed while on campus and offers them opportunities until they are suitably placed.
The Placement cell functioning in the campus dedicates itself to help students establish their career. Companies are invited to the College to recruit final year students and are offered all facilities to conduct their interviews. Students have got placements in MNCs like Infosys, HCL, Syntel, L&T, UST Global, and Wipro, through the Placement cell.
